Urban Design - Cape Town, South Africa

Reason: redesign of park infrastructure due to safety precautions  in Belville, Cape Town

Project status: finished - fictional assignment

The area of Belville is a suburb of Cape Town in South Africa, a master plan was created for the Bellville area. After that, the area was divided into different project areas. My focus area was to revitalise the park structure connecting the campus with the Belville train station.

A concept was designed with the idea of having several smaller parks connected with each other, each with its own complementary colour to be recognized from the others.

Below is an example of what a part of the entire park would look like.

Due to the location of the park safety was one of the main issues, certain parts of the park will be closed during the night. The paths that are proposed are also larger than most in Europe, this should allow local vendors to set up shop along the pedestrian infrastructure.
